Lakabi is an indoor single and double phone booth used by office workers to enjoy phone or video calls without disturbing or being disturbed by the surrounding noisy environment. Our approach has been to make Lakabi a contemporary and customisable piece of office furniture that can blend into a wide variety of office spaces while assuring that it’s development, manufacturing and assembling arms as little as possible the environment. To achieve this, we designed Lakabi to be easily reparable (carpentry and electric/electronic circuitry), using local suppliers and materials as well as reducing the dimensions of the phone booth parts to avoid the need of a large truck for it’s transportation. Its smart sensor uses very little energy to operate and automatically switch off the light and ventilation once the user step out of it, helping operators save energy and money.
